An Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Aita al-Jabal in the Bint Jbeil district, wounding two people, according to official sources.

The Health Ministry said in a statement carried by the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) that the Israeli drone strike hit a car, leaving two individuals injured.

China urged Israel to “work hard” for regional peace and engage in negotiations, warning violence won’t bring security.

“We firmly oppose any attempt that violates the security in the Middle East,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told reporters in Beijing.

“Violence will not bring security. Force will not bring peace. We urge relevant sides, especially Israel, to work hard for the recovery of the regional peace and engage in negotiations, rather than the other way,” said the spokesman.

France's outgoing foreign minister said that the Palestinian state is the "only solution" to bring peace to the region.

"I say that there will be a Palestinian state because it is the only solution likely to bring peace and stability to the region, because it is the only alternative to a permanent state of war," Jean-Noel Barrot told broadcaster France Inter.

Pointing to Israel's failure to uphold its human rights obligations, he reiterated their willingness to increase pressure on the Israeli government.

"What is happening in Gaza, the famine, what is happening in the West Bank, the colonisation, the financial blockade on the Palestinian Authority, all of that is unacceptable. We must increase pressure on the Israeli government, not on the people but on the Israeli government," Barrot underscored.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned on Friday that civilians in Gaza are trapped under dire conditions, with families facing worsening food insecurity and no safe place to seek shelter.

“In Gaza, civilians are trapped with nowhere safe to go,” said UNRWA in a statement on the US social media company X.

“Families continue to face extreme conditions and rising food insecurity,” it added, noting that “urgent action is needed. #Ceasefire, before it’s too late.”

The UN General Assembly will vote on Friday whether to back the "New York Declaration," a resolution which seeks to breathe new life into the two-state solution between Israel and Palestine – without the involvement of Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

The declaration, which is formally called the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, was presented by France and Saudi Arabia.

The declaration, which was already endorsed by the Arab League and co-signed in July by 17 UN member states, including several Arab countries, also goes further than condemning Hamas, seeking to fully excise them from governing in Gaza.

At least 23 Palestinians were killed and dozens have been wounded since morning as Israeli forces continued heavy bombardment across Gaza, according to medical sources.

At least 14 people were killed when Israeli warplanes targeted a home in the Al-Tawam area, north of Gaza City.

In a separate strike on Jabalia al-Nazla, also in northern Gaza, four Palestinians were killed and others were wounded. Two more were killed when Israeli forces attacked a tent sheltering displaced families in Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City.

A pair of Democratic senators who recently returned from the Middle East said their time there led them to determine that Israel is engaged in a plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza of Palestinians and urged an end to US complicity in the "strategy."

The lawmakers issued a 21-page report in which they said their time in the region led to them to the "inescapable conclusion that the Netanyahu government's war in Gaza has gone far beyond the targeting of Hamas to imposing collective punishment on the Palestinians there, with the goal of making life for them unsustainable."

"From our trip, from our observations, from our firsthand accounts, it's clear that the Netanyahu government has gone far beyond targeting Hamas to imposing collective punishment on all the people of Gaza," said Sen. Chris Van Hollen, who briefed reporters alongside report co-author Sen. Jeff Merkley on Capitol Hill.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani will be visiting Washington and is expected to meet US officials to discuss the Israeli strike and the status of ceasefire talks in Gaza, according to US media reports.

He is expected to see President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff, the report added, citing a source

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is currently chaired by Türkiye, has urged the UN Security Council to "take firm measures" against Israel following its airstrike in Doha, Qatar.

Delivering a statement on behalf of the OIC on Thursday, Türkiye's UN envoy Ahmet Yildiz condemned "in the strongest terms this despicable and unwarranted attack against the State of Qatar and in flagrant violation of its territorial sovereignty and national security."

"There is no doubt that this dastardly action constitutes a blatant violation of the norms of international law and certainly the Charter of the United Nations, much as it represents an overt threat to both the security of the Middle East region and indeed international peace and security," Yildiz said.
